During the course, students were divided in 7 groups, each working on a different case study, under UNIC CityLabs themes. Throughout the course students were working closely with their case representative in solving their case and coming up with their final solutions.

Group 1 was working on solving the challenge Pandemic and the tourism industry: An opportunity to building-back-better. The “Ecotourism Club in Spain” and the development of Ecotourism in the Basque Country (Euskadi). The case was provided by the University of Deusto and it was under the theme Urban resilience & transformation. Group 1 came with the innovative solution of a website which works as a one stop shop experience for tourists as well as the locals. On this website, tourists can find information about accommodation, shops selling local products, restaurants, and Eco touristic activities available in the area. On the other hand, locals can use the same website to register their services, from local food to home stays, that way tourists can find them easily.

Group 3 was working on solving the challenge Engaging local communities in biodiversity conservation and restoration effort. The case was provided by University College Cork and it was on the theme Green Cities Sustainability. Group 3 prepared an online booklet introducing their solution. Their idea was to train campus restaurant staff on the impacts of their food and beverage sales to local biodiversity, as well as a page in menus, similar to the allergens page, for customers to learn how this impacts the local biodiversity.

Group 4 was working on solving the challenge: Green infrastructure in urban environment and greening the city. The challenge was provided by University of Zagreb and it was under the theme Green cities' sustainability. Group 4 prepared an Instagram page where they introduced the green highway project. The project focuses on increasing the use of existing city gardens through an organization that brings together target groups and provides easy access to these areas to the local community.

Group 5 was working on Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees in Cities. The case was provided by KOC University and it was under the theme Diversity & Inclusion. Group 5 came up with the idea of organizing a cultural center which will serve as a platform for citizen panel discussions, different events and discussion topics.

Group 6 was working on Making digital transfer and communication secure and easy, under the theme Digital transitions. The team came up with three solutions for their challenge: 1. Using the app as a payment method, 2. Making a secured login and automatic logout time for the application and 3. Training program on correctly securing individual sensitive data when using the application.

Lastly, group 7 was working on Developing new ways for the non-profit fundraising for the urban culture projects, under the theme of Culture. For their solution the group suggested 1. Establishing a cooperation between non-profit organizations and student clubs, and 2. Leading people to donation features through QR codes.
