The project titled "Understanding and engaging in territorial servitization in the Basque Country and the Ruhr area" (TerriServ) is conducted collaboratively by researchers from Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Universidad de Deusto. It aims to depict the current status of territorial servitization in the Ruhr region and Bizkaia. It seeks to comprehend the differences and similarities between these regions.

In the first focus group workshop that was organized together with Bilbao Ekintza and took place on November 28th, stakeholders from government, academia and KIBS entrepreneurs were invited to share their opinions on how to increase regional collaboration and thus competitiveness in Bizkaia. Timon Urs Knapp and Martin Ebel from the Chair of Industrial Sales and Service Engineering at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum were present to add their perspective to the discussions and get in touch with stakeholders in Bizkaia.
After a couple of impulses from townhall and research, the participants formulated and prioritized the biggest challenges to achieving resilient hybrid value creation networks in the region. In coming workshops, these challenges will be systematically addressed, and strategies will be elaborated to successfully connect industrial players and KIBS in the region. A similar approach will be taken early 2024 in Bochum, building upon and complementing the insights generated in Bilbao. Basque researchers will be present in Germany for this.
