Institute for the Labor Market Development
In the academic year 2018/2019, financed by the ESF scheme Support to the development of partnerships of civil society organizations and higher education institutions for the implementation of service-learning programmes teachers involved in the Centre for Career Development started with development of the service-learning implementation design as a teaching strategy focusing on connecting theory and practice through real-life experiences of students engaging in the community and assisting members of marginalized groups in the labor market. Service-learning activities within this project were organized in partnership with the Institute for the Labor Market Development (https://www.azvo.hr/en/vijesti-s-vu/2396-konferencija-drustveno-korisno-ucenje-za-aktivan-doprinos-studenata-drustvenom-razvoju) and as a result of their partnership two elective service-learning courses: 1) Entrepreneurial skills (https://www.bib.irb.hr/1136130) and 2) Career Management (https://www.bib.irb.hr/1175683) were developed, evaluated and continue to be offered to students and civic society organizations within the scope of the Centre.
After (and due to) service-learning experience not only in the community, but also for the community and with the community, students indicated improvement in sense of preparedness for the labor market, knowledge, skills and virtues, civic responsibility and general self-efficacy.
