Cultivating Compassion for Inclusion and Sustainability

As part of the Sustainable Development Week at the University of Oulu, 11th-15th October 2021, UNIC Oulu organized a webinar on the theme Cultivating compassion for inclusion and sustainability. As a guest speaker, UNIC Oulu had the opportunity to invite Dr. Kate Kirk the Diversity and Inclusion Project Lead for Students and Education at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

During the webinar, Dr. Kate Kirk spoke on the importance of social inclusion and diversity in the university and offered practices for cultivating compassion in the day-to-day university community.

The webinar started with a short introduction about UNIC CityLabs, followed by an introduction of the webinar and of Dr. Kate Kirk.In the first part of the webinar, Dr. Kate Kirk talked about inclusion, compassion and sustainability, followed by an introduction of an educational model that promotes inclusion and sustainability. During the presentation Dr. Kirk engaged the audience by asking questions and for their input.In the second part of the webinar, there was a Q&A session, where the participants had the opportunity to ask questions.
