UNIC Pop-Up City Lab | Tourism in Bilbao as a post-industrial city: challenges and opportunities

On Tuesday 15 February 2022, from 12:30 to 1.30pm CET, the University of Deusto holds a Pop-Up City Lab about tourism in the city of Bilbao.

This UNIC Pop-Up City Lab | Turismo en Bilbao como ciudad postindustrial: retos y oportunidades will gather different insights from the tourism perspective regarding Bilbao as a post-industrial city, the city’s transformation, the success factors, the opportunities, and the actual or future challenges. It aims to pinpoint the good and or bad practices of the City that could be used at a later stage to compare with the UNIC joint cities. Some issues that will be raised: entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism, public-private collaboration, citenzen and stakeholders involvement (among others).  

Through this session, the Univresity of Deusto brings together the university, public administration and citizenship to share and reflect perspectives on the tourism industry and its challenges.

  • Mercedes Rodríguez Larrauri, director of Bilbao Turismo.
  • Basagaitz Guereño Omil, lecturer and researcher at University of Deusto.
  • Beatriz Egaña Carasa, student of the Master’s Degree in Governance for Sustainable Urban Development – Cities 2030 at University of Deusto.
