New Research Approaches to the Crossroads of Religion, Society, and Culture

in ‘Super-Diverse’ Cities



The conference will focus on trans-disciplinary studies on the field of religiosity and its incidence in social, political, cultural, or educational dynamics in super-diverse cities. Its two-day Virtual Conference aims to present the structure, aims, and main events of the network, apart from introducing the involved international research groups and their research lines.


Furthermore, the conference will explore the newest research approaches for the study of the intersection between religion, society, and culture in European metropolis, with a special emphasis on:

  • Integrative frameworks for the study of religion and society
  • Novel methodological developments and approaches, including Engaged Research
  • Incidence of religious speeches and practices in the social, cultural, or political arena
  • Socio-religious super-diversity and its incidence in public and educative policies
  • Dynamics of toleration, assimilation, or integration of socio-religious minorities
  • The socio-political instrumentalization of religious/theological speeches or belonging
